For many years now people have wanted a dislike button on Facebook, well that may be a reality soon, sort of anyway.
Mark Zuckerberg said on Tuesday, according to Business Insider: “I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it."
Facebook are introducing these in order to allow users to express a wider range of emotions and empathy to content. This has been in development for a while now according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
"What they really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment.”
- Mark Zuckerberg, He also said:
"It’s surprisingly complicated to make an interaction that will be simple."
Testing will start in the next few weeks with trials taking place in Ireland and Spain. These countries were chosen because they are relatively closed groups. There is the added benefit of being able to test this new feature in a country with non-English users.
The new emoji will represent “Love”, “Haha”, “Yay”, “Wow”, “Sad” and “Angry”.
