Twitter Polls, a new way to engage with your Twitter followers

Wednesday 28th of October 2015 in Digital by Kerry Owston

Twitter have now opened their new poll feature to everyone. The feature was originally available to only a select few Twitter accounts until the past few days. This new feature will allow Twitter users to create a poll direct from the twitter website or using a twitter's iOS or Android app. This feature is not expected to be available on third party apps like Tweetdeck.

Some accounts may still be lacking the feature but Twitter are in the process of rolling the feature out to all users.

Twitter polls will be a native feature in twitter which means they will be embedded directly into the tweet unlike twitter cards used for adding photos’s video’s and media.

Add a poll to your tweet by selecting the poll button alongside the media button and inputting the questions and two possible answers. Your poll is still subject to the Twitter 140 character limit.

In a statement from Todd Sherman the product manager he says "For poll creators, it’s a new way to engage with Twitter’s massive audience and understand exactly what people think. For those participating, it’s a very easy way to make your voice heard."
