The first non-Kcom residential broadband service is being connected in Hull today. Jonathan Gibbins, IT Manager of The One Point, will be the first person in the city not to have to rely on Kcoms hardware or technology for his Internet connection. Mr Gibbins will also be able to use the service to make telephone calls.
The innovative TV channel developed for Hull FC by The One Point has secured its future for the 2010 season. A new contract has been agreed to ensure that all home, away and cup matches will be covered by The One Points film and web team and broadcast over the TV platform for fans to watch around the globe to see.
The controversial CAT ZERO project got a help in hand in the way of sponsorship from The One Point. The IT division of The One Point have completed an IT installation at the CAT ZERO training centre and have pledged to maintain and support the systems in to the future as part of a sponsorhip package that will help youngsters that are not in employment or training to turn their lives around. Mark Henderson, IT Manager, said "It is great to see the new facilities open with only the help of local companies. Over 30 companies have added their products and services in for free in support of the initiative."
The One Point have agreed to sponsor the brand new Sporting Heroes and Champions Awards 2009. The Professional Player in the Community award will be sponsored by The One Point. Martin Lauer, Managing Director said "As a company we are heavily involved in local sports and the individual clubs. The performance of the players on the pitch is covered extensively in the press and media, but often their great community work is not - that is why we have chosen to sponsor this award."
The One Point now provide traditional business telephone systems from NEC and Panasonic in order to cover the full range of business communications. Having launched the system side of the business in August we have already installed a large number of systems and also partnered with a number of local organisations including Probe Hull Ltd who have taken advantage of a complete communications solution in the form of the NEC XN120.

Hulls Business Communication specialists, The One Point, have supported this years Lord Mayor of Kingston-upon-Hulls Charity Sporting Dinner, which is helping to raise funds for the Lord Mayors Charity Appeal. This year, the Lord Mayors Chairty Appeal Comittee has chosen Hull Rape Crisis and Marie Curie Cancer Care as its selected charities for the year and The Mobile Point have donated a BlackBerry handset as a raffle prize for the Charity Sporting Dinner, which will help raise money for these causes.
Hull Communications company, The One Point Limited and Quickline Communications Limited, Hull’s new supplier of next generation business broadband, are pleased to announce a partnership agreement that will make alternative broadband, telephone and hosted IT services immediately available to businesses in Hull. The One Point have partnered with Reed Employment to donate hundreds of toys to the Childrens Ward at Hull Royal Infirmary. "We hope this will make their Christmas as magical as it can be." said The One Point Marketing Manager, David Bushnell (Pictured). "Reed presented us with the opportunity to donate and we gladly accepted it. I know personally that it isnt the greatest Christmas when you have to spend it in hospital and we hope that as a company, we have made their Christmas this year that much better."
Martin Lauer, MD of The One Point has won Young Business Person of the Year 2008 at the Mail News and Media awards. The Mail said that Martin had shown considerable commitment and contribution to the business community and area as a whole. "Im extremely honoured and happy to be receiving such a prestigious award."
