Whether you work from home or in an office, the security of your organisation must be one of your top priorities. While the two locations are different in terms of security, it is important that you continue to take the same precautions regardless of your location.

Only Use Secure Devices

-          Never install an application or plugin on your device without first checking with your IT department.

-          Only use your work devices for work; if you choose to use a personal device for work activities, we recommend creating a separate user account with a unique name and password.

Protect Your Workspace

-          When in the office, be aware of tailgating; this is when someone will follow you through secure doors to gain access to areas without authorisation.

-          At home, it is essential that you find a private workspace and stay away from windows and doors where someone can view your screen. You must keep all sensitive information out of sight of any unauthorised persons, including your partners, children, and friends.

-          Always lock your computer when you step away from your desk. If you leave your computer unlocked, anyone can use it to access sensitive data, steal your login credentials, or even install malware.

Don’t Click Until You Think

-          Never click a link or download an attachment from an email that you weren’t expecting. The email address could be copied even if the sender appears to be part of a legitimate organisation.

-          If unsure of the security of an email, call the sender of the email to be sure the request is legitimate. However, do not call the phone number provided by email, as it may be a fake number.
