The One Point and many other charity-minded local businesses got together and competed yesterday in the Children's University Corporate Football Challenge sponsored by the Hull Daily Mail. The winners were The One Point!!
Our team suffered many jibes like "One Point' - the most amount of points you expect to get from a game!". Well, our doubters were left looking a little bit silly when The One Point scored 3 points in every game all the way to the final (8-nil, 3-1, 5-2,6-nil, Quarters 4-2, Semi's 5-2, Final 7-1) -  lifting the cup at the end.
Following the final, The One Point team earned the bragging rights to play The Hull City Legends headed up by City Legend Stan McEwan. The result was The One Point's first loss 4-3.
Steve Graham, The One Point's team captain, said, "It was an amazing night. The Hull City Legends were diving everywhere. We were still pleased with the result, considering we had already played 7 games. To lose by such a narrow margin proves we have some real depth and quality in our team."
Other companies that played included: Hull Children's University, Hull Daily Mail FC, Gosschalks, Rollits, Esteem, Mercury Misfits, Athena Signs, Smile/Holiday Inn, Rapid Solicitors, EYG, Sewells, St Stephen's Shopping Centre, KC, Vivergo, Humber Sports Partnership, The Insurance Partnership, University Business School, Kingston Shiners, Ingrams Solicitors and University of Hull Business School.
